Inspired by the World War II icon Rosie the Riveter, Rosie the Android was built using the Android Things platform to celebrate International Women’s Day.
At the heart of Rosie is an NXP Pico iMX7 development board running Android Things. The firmware handles standard game controller input and outputs PWM signals for the drivetrain and selfie arm control. It also communicates with a Google Pixel 2 to take the photo and a print server to dynamically generate the takeaway and upload it to the Google Cloud.
The next generation of Rosie will include on-board, real time image processing so she can better interact with her environment.
